A Canadian family has spoken out after being forced off an Air Canada flight following a dispute over their teenage son’s wheelchair. Emery Schultz has Duchenne muscular dystrophy, a rare disease that requires him to use a wheelchair to conserve energy. His mother Kadey Schultz arranged for the chair to be stored in the cabin, but an Air Canada employee refused to make space for the chair on board. The family alleges staff were unaccommodating and put them under stress, leading to them nearly missing Emery’s birthday party in Toronto. Air Canada says it is investigating.
