An Air Canada flight en route from Toronto to Calgary was forced to divert to Winnipeg after a teenager assaulted a family member also traveling with him, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police said in a statement.
Air Canada Flight 137, which departed Toronto-Pearson International Airport at 10:19 a.m. EST on Wednesday, diverted to Winnipeg and landed at Richardson International Airport at 12:24 p.m. CST. where the teen was taken into custody and brought to hospital for evaluation.
Cabin crew members and several passengers had been forced to restrain the 16-year-old boy from Grande Prairie, Alberta.
“At approximately 12:20 p.m., Winnipeg Richardson International Airport RCMP received a report of a flight diversion to Winnipeg due to an unruly passenger on board who had assaulted a passenger,” the national police service said in a statement on the incident….
