IF you’re planning to fly with Wizz Air this year, then you should check the luggage rules before travelling to avoid being caught out.
Like other budget airlines, passengers are very restricted on what they can take into the cabin for free.
We’ve explained everything you need to know about hand luggage and checked luggage, including sizes, weights – and the price.
Wizz Air hand luggage rules
Wizz Air passengers can only take a small cabin bag for free onto the plane.
Bags must be no more than 10kg, and measure no more than 40cm x 30cm x 20cm.
This does not include the wheels or handles, but these must add no more than 5cm to the bag.
It also must fit underneath the seat in front, so is likely to be a laptop bag or small backpack.
To take a bag larger than this, you will need to pay extra for a 55cm x 40cm x 23cm bag, which also weighs no more than 10kg.
The cost of this changes depending on the destination and season.
Baggage that is less than 10kg starts from €5 (£4) in low season, going up to €71.50 (£62) in high season.
However, Wizz Priority passengers can take this into the cabin for free.
Other items the airline says can be taken onboard for free are foldable baby strollers, small cribs, crutches and coats.
Wizz Air checked luggage rules
Wizz Air passengers must pay to check a suitcase into the hold, with each traveller able to take up to six checked bags.
Ranging from 10kg to 32kg, the max this can be is 149cm x 119cm x 171cm.
Any luggage that is 20kg ranges in price from €8 (£7) to €95 (£82), depending on the season, while 32kg bags range from €19 (£16) to €125 (£107).
These prices are when booking online or via the call centre.
If buying it at the airport, 20kg bags cost €60 (£52) and 32kg bags cost €120 (£103).
The highest price you will pay is €125 (£107), for a 32kg in high season.
And any baggage which is over the weight restrictions will cost an extra €13 (£11) per kg.
