Unifor Local 2002 is looking to hire an Air Canada-Bilingual Women’s Advocate in the Eastern Region for a period of three years. The Women’s Advocate is a negotiated position with Air Canada that provides referrals and support for issues such as sexual assault, domestic violence, depression, and stress. Interested candidates must submit their resume and cover letter by April 21, 2023. The successful candidate will receive training and report to the President of Unifor Local 2002. The Women’s Advocate position is recognized in the collective agreement between Air Canada and the union, with specific language stating that female employees may need to discuss matters such as violence or abuse with another woman, hence the Women’s Advocate role. The Women’s Advocate will be designated from female members of the union based on qualifications and experience and is guaranteed two hours of company-paid release time per week, with the option for additional time upon approval from the Director of Labour Relations. The Women’s Advocate will participate in an initial 40-hour training program and an annual three-day update training program.
