Air Canada has announced that its upcoming annual meeting of shareholders will be held on May 12, 2023, via live webcast. The meeting will cover matters including the election of directors and the appointment of auditors, as well as the renewed shareholder rights plan for another three years and proposals for executive compensation. The company has also revealed its plans to achieve its ambition of net carbon neutrality by 2050, including investing in new technologies like alternative fuels and carbon capture. The airline reported an operating loss of $187m in 2022, compared to a loss of $3.05bn in the previous year, as it recovered from the impact of the pandemic on the wider aviation industry. Five women, or 38% of the total board membership, will be proposed as director nominees.
