AirAsia Philippines has reported a 92% load factor in the first quarter of 2023, the highest in all AirAsia airline operations centers. The budget carrier recorded an almost 84% increase in flight frequency, seat capacity, and number of passengers carried from January to March 2023 compared to pre-pandemic levels. AirAsia Philippines sold 1.4 million seats in the first quarter, an increase of 8% from the previous period, while sales on international seats grew by 70%. Domestic and international recovery, along with stronger demand for international destinations, were identified as the biggest contributing factors to the airline’s success. To sustain its momentum, AirAsia Philippines plans to open more international destinations this year and return more aircraft to service, which will be assigned to the Cebu, Clark, and Kalibo hubs. AirAsia Philippines’ top-performing routes include Puerto Princesa, Tagbilaran, Boracay, Narita, Osaka, and Macao, from the Manila and Cebu hubs.
