The Malaysian Aviation Group (MAG) has confirmed that an injunction has been filed against AirAsia to stop the airline from selling Malaysia Airlines tickets due to a lack of commercial agreement between the two companies. The case will be heard in court in August, and MAG CEO Izham Ismail has explained that the problem with the sales of Malaysia Airlines tickets by AirAsia is that the latter had bought seats from aggregators and consolidators. He also stated that 60% of their inventory is sold by them, 25-30% comes from travel agents, 5% from ticketing offices, and around 12% is from online travel agencies (OTAs) like Expedia. Ismail added that not having a commercial agreement causes confusion and frustration among customers, as the parent company does not receive passenger details when tickets are purchased from OTAs, which becomes an issue in the event of a flight delay or other mishaps.
