American Airlines, along with LIAT, Sunwing, and EgyptAir, is set to expand its routes, particularly focusing on the Caribbean and other international destinations, for the upcoming winter season and into 2024. American Airlines Bolsters Caribbean and Latin American Connectivity

American Airlines is significantly increasing its flight services, primarily to the Caribbean and Latin America, in response to growing demand. The airline is adding more flights and routes for the upcoming winter travel period, marking a notable expansion in its network. From its Miami hub, American Airlines will launch five weekly flights to Managua, Nicaragua (MGA), starting in December. The airline’s Miami operations also include 33 weekly flights to various Caribbean destinations.

Charlotte Douglas International Airport will see a substantial boost in American Airlines’ service, with a 34% increase in seat capacity to the Caribbean compared to the previous year. Further expansions include daily flights from Philadelphia (PHL) to St. Maarten (SXM), Punta Cana (PUJ), and Cancun (CUN). From Dallas Fort Worth (DFW), American Airlines will introduce twice-weekly service to Barbados (BGI) starting December 16. This addition brings the total number of weekly flights from Dallas Fort Worth to the Caribbean to nearly 90, connecting travelers to popular island destinations.

LIAT, Sunwing, and EgyptAir Enhance Network Offerings

Beyond American Airlines, other carriers are also expanding their services. LIAT is set to resume flights to Dominica, St. Lucia, St. Vincent, and Grenada starting November 29, restoring crucial regional connections.

Sunwing is introducing several new routes for the winter season. From Toronto, new services will include flights to Aruba starting December 17, Cayo Largo, Cuba, from December 15, Mazatlán, Mexico, from December 18, and Roatan, Honduras, from December 19. Montreal will also see new Sunwing flights, with service to Mazatlán, Mexico, commencing December 19, and to San Andres, Colombia, starting December 16.

EgyptAir is also expanding its international network by offering daily direct service between New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) and Cairo (CAI).
