UNDATED (WKRC) – American Airlines keeps mistaking a 101-year-old woman for a baby.
According to Business Insider, crew members aboard an American Airlines flight from Chicago to Marquette, Michigan were expecting to take care of an infant, but were shocked when a 101-year-old woman showed up.
The centurion, who asked to be referred to as Patricia, spoke with reporters with the BBC, saying she laughed off the staff’s confusion.
“It was funny that they thought I was only a little child and I’m an old lady!” Patricia told the BBC.
The woman, who was born in 1922, told the BBC that it wasn’t the first time that the airline had confused her for a baby, going on to say that the mistake was caused due to a computer glitch.
Patricia was flying with her daughter, Kris, who made the reservation online. Per Business Insider, the airline’s booking system experienced a glitch due to her birthday being so far in the past and advanced the number by 100 years.
“My daughter made the reservation online for the ticket and the computer at the airport thought my birth date was 2022 and not 1922,” Patricia told the BBC. “The same thing happened last year and they were also expecting a child and not me.”
The woman told the BBC that she would like American Airlines to fix the glitch, as on one occasion airport staff didn’t have a wheelchair ready for her at the terminal, because they were expecting an infant who they could carry.
“I would like them to fix the computer as my poor daughter had to carry all our luggage and apparel almost a mile from one gate to the other,” Patricia told the BBC.
