American Airlines inflight supervisors have reportedly been ordered to enforce uniform guidelines by searching airport terminals for flight attendants who are not wearing their uniforms correctly. According to a whistleblower, supervisors have been instructed to identify and report three non-compliant crew members each week, with the possibility of disciplinary action – including termination – for those identified. The move followed a leaked internal memo outlining a crackdown on appearance violations. Julie Hedrick, the president of the Association of Professional Flight Attendants, criticised the “harsh attendance and performance policy” being imposed on staff.
