British Airways has unveiled a massive transformation plan of £7 billion. Sean Doyle, CEO and Chairman of British Airways announced plans on modernising IT, catering to world class customer experience and on driving timely.
‘’We are on a journey to make British Airways better for our customers, an investment of £7billion to over two years for restructuring our business,’’ Doyle said. The airline is all set to expand its network in Asia.
British Airways Modernisation plans
The airline’s plans for modernisation include a new mobile app along with a new website ba.com which will keep posted flyers about new short-haul seats, new First suite and free messages about onboarding. Flyers can also avail services like self-serve . With the help of the latest technology systems equipped with AI and machine learning, flights will depart as per schedule. In a first, Microsoft Connected teams will be there for ground to air customer care services. This will lead to the opening of 350 new jobs at Heathrow.
British Airways’ new routes
The airline will have a new flight for Agadir in Morocco starting March 31, with another flight for Izmir in Turkey commencing from May 18. Furthermore, it will resume services to Abu Dhabi on April 20.
British Airways is reintroducing its flights from London to Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur. The services are scheduled to resume in October and November, respectively. It will be operating daily flights between Kuala Lumpur and Heathrow aboard a 787-9 aircraft. Additionally, there will be three flights a week between London Gatwick and the Thai capital on a 777-200ER aircraft.
Sustainability approach
British Airways is adopting methods through the BA Better World programme which will make it more sustainable in the long run and assist the airline to meet its net zero target by the year 2050.
