Airline food is notorious for its skimpy portions and lackluster options. But some privileged passengers can find solace in business class, where airlines promise chef-driven meals that are often pretty good. That was not the case, however, for one first-class British Airways passenger who was served a breakfast so disappointing, it’s gone viral.
In a June 9 tweet, Twitter user @ladyjaney75 shared an image of her British Airways first-class breakfast, which is certainly lacking in the aesthetics department, among other things. While most of the food in the photo is difficult to identify, there appears to be some type of sausage and a handful of mushrooms that have seen better days.
“First class #BritishAirways breakfast. Thoughts?” @ladyjaney75 said. In response, people tweeted questions and overall disappointment.

Naturally, Twitter had quite the field day as they attempted to break down the cringe meal, with one user asking, “whats the red thing? whats the brown thing? whats the black thing?”
British Airways was made aware of the damning photo and offered an apology for the confusing breakfasy. The airline said they’ll be reaching out to their caterers soon for more info.
“We’re speaking with our third-party caterers to understand what happened here, as this clearly doesn’t meet our usual high standards. We’re sorry we let our customers down on this occasion,” a British Airways spokesperson shared with LADbible.
So what was supposed to be on the plate? While online version of British Airways’ first-class menu does not feature the airlines’ breakfast options, it is filled with a number of seemingly delicious dishes, like oak-smoked Gressingham duck, lobster tortellini, seared fillet of aged Herefordshire beef, and crispy spring vegetable gnocchi.
