A British Airways flight came ‘dangerously close’ to a drone when flying at 9,600 feet (2,926 m) over Kent. The flight, carrying 180 passengers onboard, was on its way to London’s Heathrow Airport when an illegally flown drone came within five feet of its wing, multiple British outlets reported.
Remote-controlled quadcopters and drones, in addition to being used to deliver cargo or food parcels, are popular aviation toys. Paired with a good camera, these drones can provide a bird’s eye view of an event or location. While this works in residential areas or open fields, the drone can be a serious risk to aircraft.
