Flydubai, the Dubai-based low-cost airline, is in negotiations with Airbus and Boeing over new aircraft to add to its all-Boeing fleet. The carrier is interested in the Airbus A320neo models as well as Boeing 737 MAX, aiming to make a decision by the end of 2023 or in time for the Dubai Airshow in November. Ghaith Al Ghaith, head of flydubai, noted the competitive aircraft manufacturing market as a “seller’s market”, adding that constant threats such as higher jet fuel prices and manufacturer backlogs require careful consideration when expanding the fleet. The airline also revealed plans for new business class suites on its Boeing 737s at the Arabian Travel Market.
