The Indian government has declined a request by UAE airlines to expand the number of seats they can sell to Indian passengers, despite lobbying efforts to increase capacity to 50,000 seats per week. Several countries have been seeking to boost their access to India, however, the Indian aviation ministry is instead calling on its own airlines to deploy larger aircraft on flights. India’s aviation market is expected to grow considerably over the coming decade, presenting opportunities for Indian carriers to take advantage of capacity restraints.
