Dermatologist Dr. Meeta Desai says, “The incidence of skin diseases varies in urban and rural areas; it may range from 10 to 20 percent in urban areas and 40 to 50 percent in rural areas. Also, those working outside in the heat are more prone to skin infections than those who stay indoors and in an air-conditioned environment.”

Tip: Apart from soaring temperatures, Dr. Desai lists sweat and humidity, wearing tight and synthetic clothes, living in closed and crowded spaces as some reasons for skin infections. Also, avoid sharing clothes to prevent the spread of infection.
