Commission initiates merger control proceedings in relation to acquisition of Air Euorpa by International Airlines Group – EU Law Live

Today, official publication has been made of the European Commission’s decision to initiate proceedings in Case M.11109 – IAG / AIR EUROPA, after finding that the notified concentration raises serious doubts as to its compatibility with the internal market.

This decision follows the previous decision of the Commission to initiate proceedings in Case M.11071 – Deutsche Lufthansa /MEF/ITA, over concerns that that merger too might be incompatible with the internal market.

The initiation of proceedings is based on Article 6(1)(c) of the EC Merger Regulation.
