Indigo, Akasa, Air India Launch Mid-December Flights

The Noida International Airport, also known as Jewar Airport, is on track for its first phase of operations, with flight operations anticipated to commence by September 2024. Located in Jewar, Uttar Pradesh, this upcoming airport is set to become the second international airport serving the Delhi-National Capital Region (NCR), aiming to alleviate air traffic congestion and boost regional connectivity.

Yamuna International Airport Private Limited (YIAPL), a subsidiary of Zurich Airport International AG, is the concessionaire overseeing the development and operation of the airport. The Noida International Airport Limited (NIAL) serves as the nodal agency representing the Uttar Pradesh government in this significant infrastructure project. Construction for Phase 1 is progressing, which includes a single runway and one terminal building to support initial flight services.

The inauguration of the airport is potentially scheduled for October 2024, following the planned September 2024 readiness for flight operations. This development is expected to significantly enhance trade, tourism, and employment opportunities across the region. Major airlines such as Akasa Air, IndiGo, Air India, and SpiceJet have reportedly expressed interest in operating from the new facility.

The Noida International Airport is planned for development in multiple phases to incrementally expand its capacity. Future connectivity will be further enhanced through integration with various major infrastructure projects, including the Delhi-Varanasi High-Speed Rail, the Noida Metro extension, and the Eastern Peripheral Expressway, aiming to provide comprehensive accessibility for passengers and cargo.
