Hyderabad Airport Receives Bomb Threat, Flight Diverted
Hyderabad: An IndiGo flight bound for Dubai was diverted to Hyderabad on November 1, 2025, after the airline received a bomb threat email. The flight, originating from Chennai, was immediately rerouted to the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad.
Upon landing in Hyderabad, all 167 passengers and six crew members were safely evacuated from the aircraft. Security agencies, including bomb detection and disposal squads, conducted thorough checks of the plane. The email, which contained the bomb threat, was reportedly sent to the airline shortly before the flight’s scheduled departure.
Initial investigations suggest a possible link between the threat and operatives associated with the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) and the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI). Authorities are actively pursuing leads to identify the sender of the email and the motive behind the threat. The airport’s security protocols were heightened following the incident.
The diversion caused significant disruption to the flight schedule, with passengers facing delays as the situation was managed. The aircraft underwent a comprehensive security sweep as a precautionary measure. Further details regarding the ongoing investigation are expected as authorities gather more information.
