InterGlobe Aviation, the parent company of India’s largest airline IndiGo, has reported a net profit of INR 919.2 crore ($123m) for the quarter ending March 2023, turning profitable after a year of turbulence. The airline had reported a net loss of INR 1,681.8 crore in the same period last year. Its total income during Q4 FY 2023 stood at INR 14,600.1 crore, up 78% compared to INR 8,207.5 crore in the same period last year. Reflecting the optimistic outlook for the aviation market, IndiGo has forecast a 5-7% rise in available seat kilometres (ASK), an indicator of seat capacity, for the June quarter. IndiGo is looking to add 45-50 aircraft this fiscal year and has reported that it is adding 5,000 more people to its workforce.
