With the nights drawing in and the clocks set to go back this weekend, many sunseekers will be heading abroad this half-term and the coming weeks following changes to the red list and a relaxation of UK travel rules.
The UK’s red list has been slashed considerably to just seven countries while testing rules have eased significantly for holidaymakers, especially when returning home, with the day 2 PCR test replaced with a lateral flow from Monday (October 24).
But if you’re soon travelling abroad for some winter sun then there are plenty of rules you’ll need to remember.

There are forms to fill out, PCR tests to take and Covid vaccination proof to show.
It means holidaymakers will need to be prepared before they set off to avoid any disappointment.
The next review into what countries and territories stay on or are added to the red list is likely to come later this week – either on October 27 or October 28 – with changes possibly coming into play from 4am on November 1.
While the red list and the rest of the world list have somewhat simplified travel, individual countries have their own rules for allowing visitors.
Here is the latest Foreign Office travel advice for some of the destinations most popular with UK tourists, including the USA, Dubai, France, Spain, Italy and Portugal.
United States:
The US government has announced details of its travel policy for international visitors ahead of the reopening of its border to fully-vaccinated travellers from November 8.
The Biden administration confirmed that children under 18 would be exempt from the vaccine requirements, in addition to people with some medical issues.
It also confirmed international travellers would continue be required to present a negative Covid-19 test taken within 72 hours of departure.
