A number of countries have been added to the green list in a welcome boost for holidaymakers.
In the latest review to the traffic light travel system this evening (Thursday, August 26), Transport Secretary Grant Shapps announced a number of changes.
From 4am on Monday, August 30, Canada, Denmark, Finland, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Switzerland and the Azores will be added to the green list.
Travellers returning home from these destinations won’t have to quarantine regardless of whether they are fully vaccinated, but will still need to take pre-departure and day two tests, as well as completing a passenger locator form.
The Azores are a Portuguese archipelago in the mid-Atlantic.

Thailand and Montenegro, meanwhile, will move to the red list.
Passengers arriving in the UK from these red list destinations will need to isolate for 10 days in a managed quarantine facility and follow the necessary testing requirements, costing £2,285 per adult.
Those travelling from an amber country don’t need to quarantine if they’ve had both doses of a government-recognised vaccine and will follow the same regime as green-list countries.
