The Reno-Los Angeles flight is one of several routes that JetBlue is cutting in June after its failed merger with Spirit Airlines.
Reno is losing its direct connection to Los Angeles via JetBlue as part of several route reductions that the airline is implementing nationwide.
Reno-Tahoe International Airport confirmed that JetBlue’s Reno-Los Angeles flight is part of several routes that the airline is cutting nationwide.
“We can confirm that JetBlue intends to end service from RNO to LAX this summer, which was a year-round flight,” said Nicolle Staten, a spokesperson for the Reno-Tahoe Airport Authority, in response to a query from the Reno Gazette Journal.
“While we are disappointed that JetBlue is ending this route, the RTAA is committed to expanding air service at RNO and reminds travelers that they have many other options to fly from RNO to Los Angeles.”
The route eliminations follow failed efforts by JetBlue to merge with low-cost carrier Spirit Airlines. JetBlue announced earlier this month that it came to a mutual agreement with Spirit to terminate their $3.8 billion merger agreement after it was blocked by a federal judge.

“We believed this merger was worth pursuing because it would have unleashed a national low-fare, high-value competitor to the Big Four airlines,” said JetBlue CEO Joanna Geraghty in a statement.
“We are proud of the work we did with Spirit to lay out a vision to challenge the status quo, but given the hurdles to closing that remain, we decided together that both airlines’ interests are better served by moving forward independently.”
United, Delta and Southwest airlines still have nonstop flights from the Reno-Tahoe International Airport to Los Angeles.
