Kenya Airways and South African Airways (SAA) have delayed their plans to create a pan-African airline group from 2023 to 2024. Both airlines announced their cooperation plans in September 2021 and finalized the agreement two months later. However, the delay now gives both carriers space to focus on their own restructuring. The partnership will involve codesharing, network and fleet rationalization, joint marketing and loyalty programs, and shared revenue on core routes. The two airlines hope the partnership will provide a strengthened route network, improved customer experience, growth opportunities, and cost savings.
