Korean Air plans to build a new MRO (maintenance, repair and overhaul) facility at Incheon International Airport in Seoul, South Korea. The facility is expected to begin operations in 2025 and cover an area of 1,000,000 square meters. The proposed facility will be equipped with the latest technologies and feature various eco-friendly features with a focus on energy conservation. Additionally, the facility’s proximity to Incheon International Airport will provide easy access to customers and suppliers, enabling more efficient processes and reducing turnaround times. With the construction of the new MRO facility, Korean Air expects to provide MRO services for 140 aircraft annually, including its own fleet and that of other airlines. The airline currently operates two MRO facilities in South Korea, one in Busan, and the other in Seoul’s Gimpo airport. The new MRO facility will help Korean Air expand its MRO services and strengthen its competitive position in the region. Korean Air’s MRO business currently generates approximately USD 1 billion in revenue annually. In summary, Korean Air’s new Incheon MRO facility will provide more efficient maintenance and repair services for aircraft and expand the airline’s MRO business. The facility is planned to begin operations in 2025 and covers an area of 1,000,000 square meters.
