Korean Air has announced that it will permanently return to Brisbane Airport with direct flights between Seoul-Incheon Airport and BNE. The airline will provide five weekly direct flights between Seoul and Brisbane from 24 April 2023, adding an extra 89,000 inbound seats each year. The move is expected to inject more than $120 million into the Queensland economy annually and support more than 1,000 jobs. The return of permanent flights is part of Queensland’s Attracting Aviation Investment Fund, a joint venture between Brisbane Airport Corporation and the Queensland government. The move has been welcomed by Queensland Tourism Minister Stirling Hinchliffe, who said that the direct flights are important for the state’s post-pandemic international visitor recovery. Korean Air’s Regional Manager for Australia, Jason Jeong, also welcomed the resumption ahead of the airline’s 30th anniversary of services to Brisbane.
