RwandAir and Qatar Airways have formed a joint cargo hub at Kigali International Airport in Rwanda, where the African airline has added a Boeing 737-800 converted freighter to its fleet, which will fly to destinations across Africa and the Middle East. Qatar Airways began operating a twice-weekly 777 freighter service between its Doha base and Kigali International Airport on 3 May, and will fly on to Entebbe in Uganda, Nairobi in Kenya, Belgium’s Liege and possibly Lyon or Oslo before returning to Doha. The hub will enable an African air cargo network to expand, with new destinations in the region to be added.
