Qatar Airways announced this week that their CEO Engr. Badr Al-Meer has been elected as a member of the Board of Governors at IATA.
Al-Meer took over from HE Akbar al-Baker back in November, and has now been appointed this additional role on top of his responsibilities at the airline.
Without further ado, let’s get into it…
Qatar Airways CEO Becomes Member of IATA Board of Governors…
In a statement, Qatar Airways said the following on Al-Meer’s election into the IATA Board of Governors:
“Engr. Badr Al-Meer will be able to support the association in shaping the future growth of safe, secure and sustainable air transport, working with members to connect and enrich our world through air travel.”
“His strong aviation sector experience and knowledge will be put to use with his appointment as a Member of the Executive Committee of the Arab Air Carriers’ Organization (AACO).”
Al-Meer will be able to give strong experience to IATA, the trade association that represents over 83% of total air traffic.
He has had experience in previous associations before, such as being a Board Director of the Airports Council International in the Asia Pacific region between 2018 and 2020.
All eyes will be on the Qatar Airways CEO to see what additional insight he can give IATA in his new additional role as one of the Board members at the organisation.
Al-Meer definitely seems to be going in with a heavy itinerary of jobs to do in the aviation industry, with all eyes being on how this goes.
