Qatar Airways introduced Sama 2.0, the world’s first AI-powered digital human cabin crew. Sama is called after the Arabic word meaning sky and was created in partnership with UneeQ. Sama 2.0 debuted at ITB Berlin on the Qatar Airways booth and is specifically meant to transform the way attendants are hosted as AI Crew.
Sama has top-notch conversational AI and can interact with passengers in real-time, and answer queries including destination information and other flight-related information. The travellers can access the flight information from Sama using Qatar Airways’ own QVerse and mobile application.

“Sama 2.0 exemplifies Qatar Airways’ ideals of great service and hospitality while also representing our persistent quest for innovation. This is a watershed moment in the successful integration of technology and human interaction, not only for Qatar Airways but for the industry as a whole. Qatar Airways underlines its commitment to leading and cooperating with innovation specialists to develop ground-breaking goods and services for its customers,” said Babar Rahman, Qatar Airways Vice President Marketing while highlighting the importance of merging technology with human connection, setting a new standard in the aviation industry.
Not only that, but Qatar Airways also revealed the Gen AI tool at the Web Summit Qatar, which learns about the needs of travellers by using images and a three-dimensional map, saving them time while looking for flights. Additionally, it offers consumers personalised trip suggestions from more than 170 locations.
Sama can currently speak in English but as per the reports, the assistant will soon get the capability to speak other languages by this year, including Arabic.
