Qatar Airways is increasing its focus on Africa, with new routes and increased frequencies on existing routes as the continent’s aviation market is expected to be valued at $400bn by 2040 with annual passenger traffic growth of 5.4%. The airline has added more flights on the Doha, Lusaka, Harare, route and is flying daily, with Cape Town up to double-daily. Qatar Airways also commenced daily flights to Accra from 25 March, and increased flights to Maputo from three to four a week last August. The airline marks the first anniversary of its successful Kano and Port Harcourt services in March.
