Vietnam’s low-cost carrier Vietjet has reported significant Q1/2023 financial results, with air transport revenue of VND12,880bn ($553m) and after-tax profit of VND168bn ($7.2m), representing YoY increases of 286% and 320% respectively. The airline performed 31,300 flights and carried close to 5.4 million passengers, growing by 57% and 75% YoY. Vietjet’s international growth now accounts for nearly 45% of passenger revenue, and the company is planning to increase its fleet of 77 Airbus aircraft to 87 by the end of this year, when it expects to carry 25.7 million passengers on 139,513 flights. Stock exchange reports indicate that VietJet plans to list its shares on the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange from this month.
