One day after the arrival of its first direct flight between Ho Chi Minh City and Perth, Vietjet celebrated its inaugural flight from Adelaide to Ho Chi Minh, making it the first carrier in Vietnamese history to serve the route.
The exciting expansion of Vietjet into Adelaide and Perth respectively will more than double the Vietjet’s weekly flights to Australia to 58 a week since this December. Less than a year after entering the Australian market in April 2023.
Vietjet currently flies to five key Australian cities, including Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth, and Sydney.
“Vietjet provides affordable air travel with a strong focus on customer service, and we are delighted to welcome the airline to Perth Airport and we look forward to building on the relationship to deliver a great new holiday destination in Vietnam for Western Australians,’ COO, Perth Airport, Scott Woodward, said.
“It is a great sign for Western Australia to see airlines show keen interest in delivering new air services to Perth Airport and opening up non-stop access to new international destinations.”
Vietnam is South Australia’s 12th largest export destination, with exports to Vietnam having increased by 32 per cent in the 12 months to September 2023, growing to almost half a billion dollars a year.
The service will offer increased accessibility for South Australia into valuable tourism markets, helping grow the state’s visitor economy which is currently worth $9.9 billion.
South Australian tourism minister, Zoe Bettison said, “It is terrific to have Vietjet now flying into Adelaide, the first Vietnamese airline to include our city as a regular destination – opening up significant opportunities for South Australia.”
“Greater access to key tourism and trade markets in Asia is hugely valuable, with tourism in the Asian region currently worth $602 million to our state and exports to Vietnam now worth almost half a billion dollars a year.
“The South Australian Tourism Commission and Adelaide Airport have been working hard behind the scenes to secure more airlines and recover international aviation, and I am incredibly pleased that today’s milestone means more flights and more opportunities for our state.”
Vietjet’s new services will ever facilitate travels between leading urban areas in Australia the largest and the most dynamic city in Vietnam and further connections to other touristy destination within Vietnam and across Asia, including India, Southeast Asia, East Asia.
