A traveler, identified as X, recently expressed discontent over the absence of non-vegetarian meal options on a Vistara flight during a short-distance journey. Voicing his frustration on social media, X questioned the rationale behind restricting non-veg offerings solely based on flight duration. This prompted a discussion among users, with varying viewpoints shared.
In a tweet, X user Soumitra criticized Vistara, implying that the airline’s decision seemed arbitrary, suggesting a disparity between flight duration and meal choices. Vistara responded to the tweet with a standard message, urging the user to communicate directly via direct message (DM) for further assistance. Subsequently, the airline elaborated on its policy, emphasizing that due to the brief duration of the mentioned flight, they serve vegetarian meals as a standard practice in the cabin booked by the passenger.
“We don’t serve non-veg bcoz this is a short flight” -stewardess on Vistara flight today.
I don’t get the connection betwn duration & non-veg.
Were they planning to fire up a tandoor on the plane if it was a long flight?

Acknowledging concerns, Vistara highlighted the importance of efficient service delivery within limited time frames while ensuring all passengers receive their meals. Despite the explanation, Soumitra remained unconvinced, reflecting the diverse opinions regarding in-flight catering policies.
Since its posting two days ago, X’s tweet has garnered significant attention, accumulating over 2.2 lakh views and nearly 4,700 likes, triggering a flurry of responses from users.
