In response to Central government’s instructions, Vistara has announced the cancellation of 8 flights to and from Mumbai, slated to be effective from February 19th to March 30th, sources told CNBC-TV18.
The decision comes as part of regulatory compliance measures. Vistara is expected to provide further details regarding the affected flights tomorrow.
The government has instructed Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport to reduce runway congestion.
Earlier, on Tuesday, February 13, Akasa Air announced to halt operations of four flights to and from Mumbai airport, following the central government’s instructions.
The government’s decision to reduce runway congestion is expected to impact around 40 flights and hamper the operations of India’s top business houses’ private jets.
The airport has also been directed by the Airport Authority of India (AAI) to decrease aircraft movement from 46 to 44 and from 44 to 42 during peak and non-peak hours, respectively.
