Wizz Air is set to open two new routes from Budapest to Copenhagen and Sharm El-Sheikh, as well as increasing the frequency of flights departing from Budapest and Debrecen. The airline will also expand the number of based aircraft in Hungary, with 14 at the Budapest base and one in Debrecen, taking Wizz Air’s fleet based in Hungary to 15 aircraft. The airline plans to fly to almost 1,000 destinations in 50 countries in 2023, with expected passenger numbers of 67 million. Wizz Air has an all-Airbus A320 family fleet, including the Foreign Affairs and Trade Ministry of Hungary’s Airbus A330-200 Freighter, which it bought in 2020 from Qatar Airways Cargo after it retired its Airbus freighters.
