A Wizz Air pilot was forced to abort his landing at Madeira airport, resulting in a spectacular go-around.
Spectacular footage has been published by Madeira Airport Spotting, a site specialising in capturing the highlights of Madeira Airport. The video shows a Wizz Air flight attempting to land on the runway, but presumably having to make a go-around due to wind. The go-around involves the pilot aborting the landing, applying throttle, and turning the plane around as it climbs back into the air, Világgazdaság explains.
The footage shows a Wizz Air Airbus A321NX aircraft attempting to land gently, then the aircraft suddenly starts to sway, the pilot accelerates and the go-around begins. In such situations, the reaction time of the pilot is important and if he sees fit to go-around, he has every right to do so.
Wizz Air pilot’s go-around
A go-around is not an emergency in itself, but rather a prevention of one, Világgazdaság writes.
