Members of the 2nd Battalion The Yorkshire Regiment (2 YORKS) have tested unmanned aerial systems (UAS) and rifle-mounted thermal imaging sights. The drones, including the Parrot Anafi weighing in at less than 500g, will be used by the British Army for Intelligence, Surveillance, Target Acquisition and Reconnaissance on the front line, as they can provide a significant improvement in situational awareness. The training incorporated even smaller drones which give sections the ability to reach out over a kilometre, see over obstacles and patrol areas of interest. The TTPs booklet for the Field Army resulting from the training will explain how to tactically employ a variety of uncrewed systems.
