Dad turns private jet into tiny home you can rent on Airbnb – and it still has original cockpit

Alaya Airways, which was once a 70’s private jet, can be booked at £170 per night

A dad has transformed an old private jet into a unique Airbnb – which you can now stay in for £170 per night. Tamir Ali, 38, bought half of a 1970s Hawker jet in December 2023 from an acquaintance who deals with ‘unique features’.

The aircraft was previously used by an oil company to carry employees during the 70s and 80s until it was retired. It was then chopped in half and stripped of its wings for easier transportation.

The ambitious dad bought half the jet in a bid to turn it into a tiny holiday home nestled in the Welsh countryside in Dolgellau, Gwynedd.

The dad-of-four from Leicester, who restores classic cars, dedicated seven months and put around £90,000 into revamping the 1970s private jet whilst keeping some of its original features intact – including the cockpit.
