A New York family has sued Airbnb for more than $2 million after their stay at a home in Delray Beach, Florida turned into a “rodent-infested nightmare”. Darren Sheehan and his family reportedly paid more than $6,000 for what they hoped would be a dreamy vacation, but arrived to find dirty sheets, old food in the fridge, countertop stains, and a bathroom covered in feces. They also discovered a rat trap, dead rodents, and no hot water for the entire week-long stay. Sheehan is accusing the property managers of fraud and breach of contract, and claims the home had a suffocating reek of mildew and mold. Airbnb hosts listed on the platform were apparently the property managers for the owners of the home in question. The owners could not immediately be reached for comment.
