A local hidden gem in Galway has been named among Airbnb’s the most wished stays for a wellness getaway.
Wild Strawberry Shepherd’s Hut in Roscahill is among 10 hidden gems across Ireland listed by Airbnb.

Amanda Cupples, General Manager for Northern Europe at Airbnb, said: “From a hidden tree house with views of Glenveagh in Donegal to an off-grid yurt in native Irish woodland near Kenmare, there’s an option to suit every traveller. Airbnb provides guests with many different types of accommodation to choose from when it comes to getting in some rest and reset time.”
“After navigating the challenges of the pandemic and feeling the need to be busier than ever, it’s no surprise that in 2024 we are yearning for a slower pace of life and making time for ourselves. Plotting dedicated time to recalibrate away from life’s day-to-day distractions and hustle and bustle is particularly important in the New Year and our Hosts have opened up their doors, with options to suit every traveller’s taste and budget.”
Airbnb is far from the first to recognize the beauty of this small Galway getaway. Previously, a young tiktoker creator Clodagh McKeon shared her experience of staying in the hut, with her followers.
The Shepard’s Hut is a traditional Irish caravan that has been completely renovated and can now accommodate up to four people in the village of Rosscahill, in Connemara.
In the video, she first showed the caravan and the inside even looks better than in the pictures as every detail of the bright green coloured venue looks absolutely perfect.
In particular, the interior is small but efficient and created a cosy unique atmosphere. The icing on the cake surely is the external hot tub as Clodagh admitted to she has “never been as relaxed in my life”.
The young woman also praised the host, who was described as “so nice” and kind, and who also lit a fire for the group of friends, allowing them to stay warm and roast marshmallows making the atmosphere even more magical.
The best part of it all is that Clodagh explained the group only spent €189 for the night, making the The Bluebell Shepard’s Hut experience not only magical but also cheap.
