Airbnb has released a new report highlighting the increase in family travel on its platform. Globally, family travel is up over 60% in 2022 compared to pre-pandemic levels in 2019, with over 15 million check-ins in almost 90,000 destinations. In India, family travel on the platform has grown by over 90% during that same period. The increased popularity of family travel has provided meaningful earning opportunities for Airbnb hosts, with those in India collectively making over INR 1 billion ($13.3 million) from bookings with families last year. The report also revealed the top destinations and categories for family travel on Airbnb. The top 10 family travel destinations in India were Goa, Bengaluru, Pune, Hyderabad, Dehradun, Jaipur, Raigarh, Ernakulam, New Delhi, and Nainital. The top book categories for family travel in India include locations near national parks, tropical settings, pools, beaches, and lakes. Airbnb also provides families with more space and value for their money, with one-quarter of listings having three or more bedrooms, almost 90% of listings having kitchens, and more than 5 million pets traveling on Airbnb listings in 2022. Airbnb plans to continue to make it easier for people to become hosts, launching Airbnb Setup that provides new hosts with one-to-one guidance from superhosts, an experienced guest as their first guest, and personalized support from a community support team.
