Lake Wales approves $450,000 payment to regain ownership of historic Walesbilt Hotel

LAKE WALES, Fla. (WFLA) — The Lake Wales City Commission approved a signed agreement Tuesday evening that will return ownership of the historic Dixie Walesbilt Hotel to the city.

The hotel, which opened in 1927, has sat vacant for years.

Hillsborough commissioners vote to end Cross Bay Ferry service

In 2022, the city sued its owner, Raymond Brown.

The agreement ends all litigation between the two parties and, at a cost of $450,000, allows the city to regain ownership of the hotel.
