RTDC hotels now fetch profits, muddle govt plans

Jaipur: RTDC hotels are generating profits at the operational level even as the govt dithers on leasing them out, while starving them of funds for their renovation and repair.
Sources in tourism department said several meetings have taken place, at least twice a month, but there is no mechanism established to start the process.
Meanwhile, the tourism department has taken loans of about Rs 400 crore against RTDC, using its hotels as underlying assets.
The previous Congress govt identified 35 of its 72 hotels and motels for leasing out, while the current administration announced offering all the units to private players. “They are neither taking any decision to start the process nor providing funds to renovate and upgrade the hotels,” said…
