Agoda’s new accommodation search rankings for the first quarter of 2025 reflect a clear shift toward spiritual and culturally significant destinations across India. The digital travel platform reports notable growth in search volumes for cities traditionally associated with pilgrimage and cultural heritage.
Allahabad has seen one of the most dramatic rises, emerging from outside Agoda’s top 50 in early 2024 to rank 11th for domestic travellers and 15th for inbound visitors during January, February, and March this year. This increase coincides with the return of the Mahakumbh Mela, held after a 12-year gap, sparking a 233 pc year-on-year rise in domestic accommodation searches for the city.
