Indian travellers are placing sustainability at the heart of their travel plans, according to Agoda’s 2025 Sustainable Travel Survey. The study, which surveyed over 6,000 respondents across 11 Asian markets, ranked India as the second most sustainability-conscious travel market in Asia, with 82 per cent of Indian travellers factoring sustainability into their 2025 trips, well above the Asian average of 68 per cent.
Sustainability is no longer just a trend for Indian travellers, it is becoming a core value. The survey revealed that nearly 24 per cent of Indian respondents cited personal values and beliefs as the primary motivation for choosing sustainable travel. A further 21 per cent expressed a preference for authentic and purposeful tourism, showing a shift towards experiences that are not only enjoyable but also meaningful for both travellers and local communities.
