Booking.com’s annual Sustainable Travel Report 2023 shows that 76% of UK travellers view sustainable travel as important, and over 64% want to travel more sustainably in the next 12 months. The report reveals a list of destinations for sustainable travel, including Merano in Italy, which offers a focus on sustainable farming and uses renewable energy. Brazil’s Foz do Iguaçu is home to the Iguaçu Falls and Parque das Aves ecological sanctuary. Tainan in Taiwan is investing in the future with its solar farm, sustainable industries and solar energy efforts, and the oldest city in Taiwan offers a woven tapestry of attractions, including a deep-rooted local food and drink scene. Santa Marta in Colombia has worked with the Environmental Protection Association to introduce regulations to protect the region, flora, fauna and local communities, while Stellenbosch in South Africa offers both a rich history, and a network of grape producers dedicated to producing biodynamic wines using eco-friendly methods.
