A tourist ended up £7,000 in debt after flying to Thailand only to find the hotel he booked did not exist. Glen Parke booked a 59-night stay at Lek Lek Residence, which was advertised on Booking.com as a ‘one-bedroom house’.
But when he got to Thailand he discovered a small roadside shop and no sign of his accommodation. He was then forced to spend thousands on a last-minute online booking – which was fully booked when he turned up.
The 30-year-old forked out even more on a third hotel. He claims Booking.com insisted it would cover the costs of both hotels as an apology for the initial non-existent booking.

Mr Parke received the money for the first and second hotel within a week but did not receive a refund for the third hotel until April 18 – when…
