Expedia Group has laid off an unknown number of employees.
Employees posted on LinkedIn describing the “sweeping round of layoffs” and Expedia Group shared a statement regarding the cuts in an email to PhocusWire.
“To ensure the best traveler experience, we must continually adapt to the evolving needs of our industry and travelers,” said an Expedia Group spokesperson. “This requires difficult but necessary decisions such as refining our marketing strategies, improving efficiencies, and reallocating resources to areas with the greatest business impact to drive customer engagement.”
The online travel giant would not share any additional information.
