MakeMyTrip Launches AI Natural Language Hotel Search

MakeMyTrip has launched a new AI-powered search feature for finding hotels, integrating a “conversational booking assistant” on its platform. This new tool, which went live today, allows users to search for hotel accommodations using natural language queries, aiming to simplify the booking process and offer more personalized recommendations.

The AI search capability is developed using Generative AI (Gen AI) technology and is powered by Microsoft’s Azure OpenAI Service. It utilizes OpenAI’s large language models (LLMs) to understand and process user inputs. Travelers can describe their preferences and requirements in detail, such as their travel purpose, budget, desired amenities, or specific location needs, and the assistant will provide relevant hotel options.

This initiative by MakeMyTrip is designed to address common user pain points associated with hotel searches, such as sifting through numerous options and applying multiple filters manually. By leveraging AI, the platform intends to deliver faster and more tailored search results. The conversational assistant can also provide comprehensive information about hotels, including pricing, cancellation policies, and available amenities, directly within the chat interface, enhancing the overall user experience on MakeMyTrip.
