Online travel services provider MakeMyTrip has announced plans to grow its franchise base by more than 50% this year. The move will help the company expand its reach in smaller cities and towns across India thanks in part to the government’s ambitions to increase the number of airports in the country by 80 over the next three years. MakeMyTrip began the year with 146 active franchisees and aims to reach 220 by the end of the year. The company sees opportunities in modernising the nation’s aviation market in tier two and beyond cities.
